Learn how governance, roles and incentives help create an environment that supports more impact-oriented research and knowledge valorisation.
What makes an institution truly capable of turning research into impact? This module shifts the focus from individual projects and researchers to the wider institutional environment that enables knowledge valorisation to happen consistently and effectively.
You will explore how governance structures, organisational roles, incentives and institutional culture can shape the way research results are supported, managed and brought closer to real-world use. The module examines how responsibilities are distributed, how decisions are made and how internal systems can either enable or limit impact-oriented research practices.
Particular attention is given to the importance of creating the right conditions for researchers and support teams to engage in knowledge valorisation. This includes clear roles and processes, appropriate incentives, access to expertise, collaboration across departments, and an organisational culture that recognises impact as an integral part of research activity.
By the end of the module, you will have a stronger understanding of how institutions can move beyond isolated initiatives and build long-term capacity for knowledge valorisation, creating an environment in which impact-oriented research practices can become embedded across the organisation.
