About this Deep Dive
This interactive Deep Dive builds on Module 1 of the IAM4RE Training Suite and moves beyond foundational concepts to explore a critical question:
How can Intellectual Assets Management (IAM) be positioned as a strategic leadership and governance responsibility within research organisations?
While Module 1 introduces the conceptual foundations of Intellectual Asset management for knowledge valorisation, this session focuses on implementation realities — connecting EU policy ambition with institutional practice.
The session is designed as a structured dialogue with active participant engagement.
It creates a space for exchange between:
The European Commission's perspective on knowledge valorisation and the Codes of Practice
An institutional leadership perspective from a research-performing organisation
Participants’ own governance and organisational challenges
What will be discussed
This session will explore:
Why knowledge valorisation has become a structural priority within the European Research Area
What institutional shifts the EU Codes of Practice are intended to trigger
How responsibilities for valorisation can be anchored beyond the TTO
Which structural and cultural barriers slow the transition from IP management to Intellectual Assets Management
What practical governance adjustments can strengthen institutional capacity
Participants will engage through live polls and moderated discussions.
Who should attend?
- University leadership
- Research managers
- Knowledge transfer and innovation professionals
- EU project coordinators
- Policy and governance experts
