The IAM4RE.eu project is designed to help Public Research Organisations shift from a narrow focus on Intellectual Property management to a broader approach centred on Intellectual Asset management. To support this transition, the project is organised into six Work Packages (WPs), each contributing to a structured path from initial analysis to capacity building, real-world validation and long-term sustainability.

The work is grouped into three phases: building the foundations, implementing capacity-building actions, and ensuring outreach and lasting impact.

WP Structure

Phase 1: Strategic Foundation and Content Development

This initial phase creates the knowledge base and educational resources needed to support change within European universities and research organisations.

WP1: Policy Analysis and Guidelines

WP1 identifies knowledge gaps related to Knowledge Valorisation and Standardisation across European PROs and universities. Through landscape analyses and surveys, the consortium gathers evidence on the needs of the target groups. These findings feed into the project’s Policy Guidelines, which support institutions in adopting the “Guiding Principles for Knowledge Valorisation” and offer recommendations for policymakers.

WP2: Development of Contents and Tools

Using the insights collected in WP1, WP2 develops the project’s core training materials. This includes a structured training suite with basic, intermediate and advanced modules, as well as a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) tailored for students, researchers and spin-off companies. The package also designs innovative service formats and a Train-the-Trainer programme to equip intermediaries with the skills needed to deliver these concepts within their own organisations.

Phase 2: Capacity Building and Validation

With the materials in place, the project moves on to implementation, testing and refinement.

WP3: Delivery of Capacity-Building Activities

WP3 focuses on delivering the training created in WP2. It includes the setup and maintenance of the IAM4RE.eu eLearning platform and the rollout of the MOOC. A key component is the Train-the-Trainer programme, involving representatives from at least 20 PROs, to embed intellectual asset management practices within participating institutions.

WP4: Mentoring Service Implementation and Validation

To ensure the tools are practical and relevant, WP4 pilots the service formats developed in WP2 with 15 diverse PROs and academic institutions. Expert mentoring teams support this process, collecting insights from real use cases. The feedback gathered helps refine the toolkits and contributes to the finalisation of the policy guidelines developed in WP1.

Phase 3: Outreach, Sustainability and Management

The final phase ensures that the project’s results reach the right audiences and remain accessible beyond the lifetime of the grant.

WP5: Communication, Dissemination, Engagement and Sustainability

WP5 manages communication with stakeholders and oversees the communication and dissemination activities of the project’s key results and outputs. It supports long-term uptake by establishing a Community of Practice and by preparing exploitation plans to ensure that the Training Suite, MOOC and any training materials and guidelines continue to be used and further developed.

WP6: Project Management

WP6 coordinates the overall project, ensuring administrative, financial and technical compliance with the Grant Agreement. It manages risk, oversees quality assurance, ensures GDPR compliance and facilitates communication between the consortium partners and the European Commission.
